If you have a fintech, and you want to grow… This is the most important message you will ever read this year.
Here is why:
Fintechs have extreme difficulties: They compete banks. They compete with settled financial institutions. These institutions have branches, physical buildings, phone lines, lots of workers, capital, regulatory advantages etc.
Fintechs don’t just have these difficulties!
Feature adoption rate is 22.6% in fintechs, lowest in SaaS (according to Artisan Strategies’s report)
Customer acquisation cost is $400 for a fintech in 2025. It was $200 in 2023.
So if you want to challenge finance, you can’t just rely on how well your system works at backend.
I hear many founders say “here is all the data. System works perfectly. Anyone can see what they look for”. Yeah. It is true. But modern approaches to design data offers much more than that.
This makes users difficult to make decisions. Even it makes people to wrong decisions. I don’t want that. B2B or B2C…
I want people improve their finances!
In terms of UI design… green and red for porfit & loss, conflicts with semantic colours. Error, success, warning. There is a fine line there. Typography of currencies. Tabular numbers. Data visualizations. When to use donut chart. When not to.
Can a data-heavy UI be minimalistic?
If you use colours correctly, yes.
Special forms in fintech… Money transfers, trading, calculators, imports… They all need domain knowledge. And I have that knowledge. I worked at Softtech for 2 years and I worked in 9 different projects. I know the jargon. What I also know is these kill fintechs when designed wrong:
- Unclear KYC steps.
- Hidden fees.
- Surprise permissions.
- Slow verification.
- Non-transparent flows.
